The Coast's centre

Gosford is the Coast's administrative and commercial hub, sitting at the head of Brisbane Water under a ring of sandstone ridges. Demolition work here spans three quite different kinds of site.

CBD and mixed-use

Gosford's CBD has been redeveloping, with older commercial buildings and houses replaced by apartments, offices and mixed-use projects. These demolitions sit inside development consents with conditions covering traffic, waste, dust, noise and neighbour protection, and they need careful staging next to occupied buildings.

Industrial estates

West Gosford, North Gosford and nearby Somersby and Lisarow host warehouses and industrial units. Work includes strip outs, mezzanine and office-pod removal, and slab and hardstand concrete removal.

Hillside suburbs

Point Clare, Koolewong, Tascott, Springfield, Wyoming, Narara and East Gosford include plenty of 1950s–80s houses on sloping blocks. Expect:

  • Steep driveways limiting machine size.
  • Sandstone under footings and in retaining walls.
  • Bushland edges with bushfire and tree considerations.
  • Narrow streets where trucks need planning.

Asbestos

Post-war and 1960s–70s houses, outbuildings and older commercial fit-outs commonly contain asbestos. Survey first; removal by separately licensed removalists. See asbestos removal.

Council

Central Coast Council. Many dwellings qualify for complying development; CBD redevelopment, heritage items and constrained sites go through a development application. See council and approvals.

FAQs

Questions people ask before they commit

Is demolition in Gosford CBD different from the suburbs?

Yes. CBD sites often involve commercial or mixed-use buildings, redevelopment consents with detailed conditions, traffic management on busy streets, and occupied neighbouring buildings. Suburban jobs are more often single houses, with steep blocks the main complication.

Are Gosford hillside blocks harder to demolish?

Often. Suburbs around the escarpment — parts of Gosford, East Gosford, Point Clare, Koolewong and Springfield — have steep driveways, sandstone and retaining walls that slow machines and loading.

Do you do strip-outs in Gosford?

Yes — shops, offices and industrial units in the CBD and estates such as West Gosford, with services made safe first and asbestos checked in older fit-outs.

What about asbestos in older Gosford houses?

Common in houses and outbuildings built or renovated before about 1990. Survey first; removal by separately licensed asbestos removalists before demolition.
